Company History
The bucolic site of the factory, near Havelock North, was purchased in 2004 and the design skills of award-winning architect Pierre du Toit were called on soon after. Six long, compliance-filled months later, the ground was broken and building began. Meanwhile, equipment and milk were sourced, cheese styles were savoured and the factory was completed.
Full scale production began in July 2005 and the factory and cafe wwas open to the public in October 2005. The Te Mata Cheese Co. range includes top quality, cultured foods, fresh, white-rinded, feta and blue cheese. Production is 135 tonnes per annum and increasing.
The Te Mata Cheese Co. has nationwide distribution for Foodservice & Supermarkets. To find out where you can purchase cheese from selected stores or for trade enquires contact us. |
